Bakeru is out now. A few days ago, I had downloaded the demo. What do I think of this? Let’s find out. This is yes basic plot. The game takes place in a fairy tale Japan which is a mix of the feudal and modern day. Many fairy tale characters also live here. You play as Bakeru who must stop Oracle Saitaro and his evil festival troop who have invaded the land.
The gameplay is basic. You can shimmy through the cliffs, roll, and jump. Your weapon is a taiko drum. You use the drumsticks to attack. To use the sticks, you use the L and R buttons (which takes a little time to get use to). You can alternate the sticks by pressing L, R, L, R, and so on to defeat a group of foes in succession. You can press the two buttons together for a stronger attack. Holding the two buttons together will release an attack that will pound the ground. Using the sticks will also destroy objects like boxes. Some of the boxes block secret areas that you can get coins and go to another area. You can use the drum itself to block. If you called out at the right time, you would reflect a projectile back to your foe. You are also able to use the sticks hit a gear in order to move platforms to reach new areas.
You collect coins by defeating your foes and going to secret areas. In the demo the coins do nothing, but I do guess in the full game you use the coins to buy health items, clothes, new weapons, and upgrade weapons. In the stage you can go around finding thinks like souvenirs and collecting info from a poop looking creature name scoop.
Later in the demo you will get something call a henge license. This license gives you a special ability. The one in the demo is the Issun henge. This license makes you shrink in order to get in small places that you can’t enter at normal size and to float above a gap. That is, it! I don’t to spoil the rest of the demo. I had fun playing the demo and I will buy this game. I hope that all of you will at least give the demo a shot.
