Do you miss playing an old fashion 2D Zelda game from the good old days? The new game under the island might be the thing you need to satisfy your craving. The game is out now. A couple of weeks ago I’ve downloaded the demo. Earlier this week I finally play it. Is it good? I will tell you.
In the game, you play as the red head teen Nia. Nia moves with her mom and dad to seashell island when the two for them got assign there by their jobs. Nia explores the town. She meets a teen named Avocado (yes that is her name). The two girls walk up to a shrine. Avocado said do not touch it. Of course, Nia touches it. Then the two fall underground. I will not spoil what happens next. Now armed with a hockey stick, Nia must save the island and the people living on it from a horrible fate.
How is the gameplay? If you ever played an old Zelda game before then you will be right at home. The game is in a top-down viewpoint. You use the stick to beat foes, knock items down, and to cut grass. Your health meter is in hearts. You start with three. When you collect four coins with hearts in them, you get an extra heart. You can get items to help you out. Like food to restore your health, open up new areas, or to make you run faster. This is only the demo, but you can upgrade your hockey stick by collecting enough of the right items.
It looks like you can play side missions. I play one of them in the demo. Like the old Zelda games, you can walk into people’s homes and talk to them and pick up items. While outside Nia can talk to people and talking animals to get both clues and information. It looks like the game will have dungeons. I play one of them near the end of the demo. Like in Zelda in the dungeon, you will get a new item that you will need to go on.
Overall, the love the demo. Most likely I will buy this game down the road. I will encourage you to download the demo and try it yourself.
