I will look back at my predictions next week and now I will go over what I taught were the highlights from the direct last Friday.
The show started with the Mario 40th anniversary direct. Honestly this should had been aired on another day. The first highlight is the reveal of the super Mario galaxy movie. Nothing from the movie itself was shown. The movie is coming out in April 2026. Then they show the super Mario galaxy 1 and 2 collection. This is awesome but the $70price tag is hard pill to shallow. The final Mario anniversary highlight is the new Yoshi and the mysterious book game. Maybe this will be fun, but I don’t like that stop motion action crap.
Moving on to the actually direct. Nintendo started with games coming to the switch one. It is great that Nintendo is still supporting the switch one. Yet only game that caught my eye is Tomodachi life living the dream. The mortal kombat legacy collection is coming digitally on 10/20. If you want it physically, then you will have to wait longer. It will be out on 12/12. Finally, we got the release date for FF7 remake. The game comes out on January 22.
I thought that tears of imprisonment would be coming out next Feb. I was wrong. The trailer shows new moves like sync strike for example. The game is out on 11/6. The biggest shocker is the return for the Virtual boy. Put your switch 1 or 2 into the system and play old Virtual boy games. It comes out on 2/17. A $100? Nintendo you need to fix your pricing problem. Most likely I will not play this, but I think it deserve a shout out. Fatal frame 2 Crimson butterfly remake does look sweet.
When I first saw this, I thought it was a trailer for Dusk bloods. Nope it is for Metroid prime 4. Samus now have a motorcycle. Some people are whining about this. The motorcycle looks awesome. Also, the prime 4 amiibos were amazing. I am buying all three for them. Most importantly we got a release date. Prime 4 is out on 12/4. Next is the Bananza DLC. DK goes back home. I have to wonder why Bananza got a DLC so soon, but Mario kart world hasn’t gotten one yet.
Next was a sizzle reel. The only one from the reel I care about is Virtua fighter 5 R.E.V.O. The game is out this winter. It looks that the rumor was true. Resident evil requiem is coming to the switch 2 after all. Also as an added bonus to Nintendo fans, RE7 and RE8 are heading to the switch 2 as well. All three games will come out on 2/27. I have to question if that is a good move. I think they should release RE7 and 8 earlier. The last highlight is the latest entry in the fire emblem series call Fortune’s weave. I still haven’t played a mainline fire emblem game yet. i might try this one. Overall, I thought that this a good direct. I give it a solid B.
