The first tomb raider movie starting Angelina Jolie came out back in 2001. I’ve enjoyed it many others as well. It was a big hit. Two years later we got the second film Lara Croft tomb raider: the cradle of life. That film didn’t do as well. It was a flop. They did a reboot for the series back in 2018 starting Alicia Vikander. It supposed to get a sequel but concerns about the budget, disagreements between MGM and Vikander over the creative direction, and MGM losing the film rights due to delays in development the second movie was never produce.
There is now a new tomb raider cartoon. Let from reviews from people that I trust, the show the awful. Of course these days Hollywood is rebooting everything under the sun, don’t be shocked if we do see a new movie in the future. The question of the day is who will play Lara herself? I will answer that question, but not today. While I was doing resource and finding the groups of actresses that can play the role, I found a lot of actresses. So many in fact it will take a long time to list them in this blog alone. So I have decided to split this into a series. Today is part one.
In order to play Lara, I wanted the actress to have some experience in action movies. Also I wanted the actress to have both the skills and the look. Now the actress doesn’t have to have big breasts, a big butt, and be British but it wouldn’t hurt. Speaking of being British. While I was looking of actresses, many of the ladies I found are from across the pond. Part one will only have the actresses that are from the UK.
Karen Gillian
Karen is actually from Scotland, but it still counts. With her being in the MCU and the last two Jumanji films, she does have experience with being in action scenes. Beside her red hair, Karen does have the Lara look.
Emilia Jones
She is from the show Locke and key, the movie Coda, and in one rogue one Star Wars film.
Ellie Bamber
The very beautiful lady was in the crap show Willow. I do not think she have been in any action scenes.
Daisy Edger-Jones
The British actress got her start in the USA with the movie Where the crawdads sing. Last year she was in the film twisters. She does have the body to play Lara. Trust me!
Phoebe Dynevor
Not too long ago, I cast Phoebe as Rebecca Chambers in my resident evil live action casting. She would be a good choice to play Lara.
Ruby Stokes
Ruby is Phoebe former castmate from Bridgetion. With Ruby being short will hurt her chances for the role.
Millie Gibson
The sexy blonde was in the massive pile of s*** which is doctor who. She has the look I am looking for.
