Mortal Kombat 1 (by the way, I do not get why they would just call it Mortal kombat 12) is coming this September. With the trailers, gameplay, and little information we have, I am going to take the best educated guess on who is going to be on the main and cameo rosters.
For the main roster we know that johnny Cage, Kenshi, Liu Kang, Kitana, Mileena, Raiden, Kung Lao, and Shang Tsung are already in it. It looks like they will be 24 spots open. I am going to keep 4 spots open for new characters. So I’m going to fill up the remaining 12 spots. Ed Boon did say that some 3D era characters will be in the game. A good chuck of them will be on both rosters.
Reptile should be a lock. I do believe that Onaga will be the final boss. I am right then Onaga’s girl Li Mei will be in the game. I doubt that Shao Kahn will be in the game. Yet I do think that mini-Shao Kahn aka Reiko will be on the main roster. He is long overdue for a comeback. With Mileena being the heir to the outworld throne, it could happen. He can be the general of the outworld’s army. In the comics, Reiko and Mileena are lovers so that storyline could be in the game. Up next is Bo Rai Cho. I do think that we will get a member of the black dragon beside Kano on the roster. My guess is Kira. She was in the snow-blind movie, so I do believe there is a good chance she will be in the game.
I am thinking that one of the new characters from Mk 11 will be on the roster. My guess is the kollecter. Kitana’s best friend Jade will hopefully be on the roster. Jade was mentioned in one of the pre-fight dialogues so there is a good shot. I think Ferra/Torr will return. Some rumors says that Ferra will return by herself. Which too me is stupid. Fan favorite Smoke should return. With the new timeline and story, other realms can play a bigger role. Like the order realm for example. Who should come from the order realm? It is a character that I wanted to return for a long time. It is Hotaru. Darrius from the order realm should return too. The last goes to Nitara. She was in the movie and Scorpion’s revenge.
Now lets move on the cameo roster. There are 16 spots. Stryker, Goro, Kano, Sonya, Jax, Kung Lao, Sub Zero, and Scorpion are on the roster, I have a huge problem with Kung Lao, Sub Zero, and Scorpion being on both the main and cameo rosters but I will save that for another blog. Now I am going to fill up the other 8 spots.
With what is happening to Mileena in the game, it makes sense that Baraka be on the roster. I do believe that Sindel will be a cameo fighter. She is already in the background of one of the fighting stages. I do hope they will redeem her. It does seem like the white lotus we have a big role in the game. Because of that this fighter needs to be on the cameo roster, Like Reiko he is long overdue to return. It is Kai. With his skill set, Kabal would be perfect as cameo fighter.
Ed did said that some of the cameo fighters will not be cannon to the story. I think that Cassie Cage will be here. Of all of the combat kids, Cassie is the one that is likely to return. I don’t want this character to comeback but sadly I think she will be back like a STD. It’s D’Vorah. Mostly everyone hates her but it seems that NetherRealm studios have a hard on for her. Motaro should be a lock. This is a huge longshot, but I would love to see Hsu Hao to return. He is in the background of one of the stages like Sindel. Just like Sindel, Hsu deserves to be redeem as well.
For a bonus I will pick 4 fighters to be DLC. These are some of the fighters that the fans want to return the most. I do believe that NetherRealm will make them DLC in order to make more money. They are Havik, Ermac, Tanaka, and Ashrah.
