Happy leap day everyone! About a week ago, I was dusting my DVD and games collection when I find something. It was my copy for the final fantasy 7 movie. I haven’t watched this movie in years. I have remembered that I enjoyed it the first time I watch it. Since rebirth is out now, yesterday I decided to watch it again. After all of these years is the movie is still good as I recalled. Let’s found out. Warning there will be a few minor spoilers.
Advent children is a CGI movie that came out in 2005. The movie takes place in the ruins of Midgar two years after the events of the game. Cloud mostly is in solitude and Tifa is still running the 7th heaven bar while taking care of Marlene and her friend Denzel. When a plague call geostimga is making the citizens ill, Cloud returns to battle new enemies and an old foe.
Let’s talk about the GCI. It looks good then and it still looks good now. It holds up well since it came out almost 20 years ago. Heck it still looks better than some movies that uses a lot of CGI (aka some of the recent MCU movies). The voice acting is great as well. All the fight scenes were amazing. From the motorcycle chase scene in the beginning to the final fight at the end, all of it was great. They story was very good. It got me hooked right at the start.
For the bad side. The pacing was sometimes all over the place. Sometimes it is a little too fast and a little too slow. The Turks were fine but I think they had too much time in the spotlight. For the other heroes, we beardly had time with them. We got bits of info on what they been doing but I wanted more from them. The only time I saw all together was the big fight near the end. The final part that I was disappointed was the relationship between Cloud and Tifa. I will not spoil it but I was hoping that I would get more out of the relationship.
Overall should you buy the movie. If you are a fan of the game or the entire series, then yes. If you are not a fan of the series, then at least rent the movie. You will have a good time.
